BROK the InvestiGator is a New SUPER Explorable Point and Click Game

Brok the Investigator is a side-scrolling point-and-click cartoon adventure detective story. Fully interactive, voiced characters. It's chock full of feel-good, heartwarming, animal noir gameplay. And what would an animal people noir be without a detective croc named Brok? The game begins in an inexplicable house fire, although things aren't quite what they seem. After this introduction, you'll start your story from an underground apartment. Brok's son, Graff, is a raccoon or bear, I think. Graff is a teenager who's your typical snippy teen, but fairly helpful in establishing location. Brok's phone rings shortly after he wakes up and a call…

Clocker is A Complex New Puzzle Indie on Nintendo Switch

I just saw Clocker released on Nintendo eShop this morning for a reasonable $3, so I snatched it up and gave it a go. These Switch games are kind of hard to predict sometime, but you have to pay your portion for the privilege once in a while. I do not really know what the origins of this game are. It was listed under Indie in eshop, with no publisher info. A little research revealed that the developer Wild Kid Games, published this through a studio called Indienova in China. Are there indie studios in China? I have wondered this a few times. I really don’t know much about it, but if there are that’s pretty cool.

City of Heroes is The Best MMORPG That’s Now Defunct

Well, quick FYI, City of Heroes hasn't had a live official server in years. There was never anything wrong with it. I'm not really sure why they even shut it down, many people today still would like to play it. But I guess they just felt it was dated or didn't make money, or they just didn't want to produce content for it anymore. I don't know, but I would love to step foot in Paragon City once again. What was it? City of Heroes was an MMO that simulated player life as a superhero that you could play with…

Beasts of Maravilla Island is Magical & Pleasant

Beasts of Maravilla Island is a mindful and progressive concept revolving around the science, hobby, and storytelling of isolated ecosystems and their sometimes astonishing, in this case even magical, discoveries. It's a game about collecting documentation and exploring the flora and fauna of an environment, where combat or violent interaction is non-existent.

Princess Farmer is a Unique and Colorful Indie Out Now

incess Farmer is essentially a complex row matching game, mixed with some RPG and storytelling elements. With some pixel graphics and a cozy story about bunnies, it's a lot of fun. The stylizing is pink and indie in the best way, and it is fun just to look at. I'm pretty much a sucker for anything with this style. I'm not totally sure what you would call it, but it puts me in a happy place.

First Impressions of Phoenotopia Demo on Nintendo Switch

Phoenotopia is more than a cozy pixel-art game about a hero with pink hair. There are some pretty deep theme but also pleasant gameplay. For a sample, a group in Phoenotopia known as the last councils decide the fate of humanity. This game has emotional and philosophical depth. But once again, it's buffered with some enjoyable run and jump platforming. In my playtest of the demo, I enjoyed the open world environment and sense of adventure. I also love that I can play on super easy difficulty levels or super difficult difficulty levels. Accessibility is a great thing to pair…

Cloudpunk is A Game That Deserves Awards For What it Has Accomplished

The way games roll out in relation to cult themes these days feel like popping a bean bag chair full of glitter. Shiny and colorful, but spreading everywhere. Cloudpunk IS DEFINITELY a cyberpunk game. Life exists in an oppressively technological Babylon run by criminal overlords and the rebellious underdogs to send it tumbling--not always in an obvious way either. Of course, Cloudpunk is massive, and I have no idea how long it takes to reach the end, how it ends, or if it ends. Hold on let me look that up. WOW, this game is massive. Get Yourself Connected I…

Lasagna Boy is Weird and Scary But Really, Really Hilarious

HEADS UP: Moderately creepy imagery is in these games, this will be my only warning. I don't generally review horror games, but Lasanga Boy made me laugh, and then, it intrigued me. It merits analysis based on absurdity alone but also design. I also personally understand people like illustrating and drawing creepy monsters because... well, it's fun! Why not throw in a third or fourth eyeball here and there. We've been doing that for ages. Direct link to the games on Itch.IO a the bottom of this article.

Art of Rally and My First and New Impressions

Somewhere in my past, I played an awesome rally game that came fully loaded with mud-flapping corners and virtually no control over anything. I also know that these aren't a grapevine of hits in the racing genre, but rather a genre unto itself. That said, I had no idea before Art of Rally that rally races have a rich aesthetic history that looks darn fine low-poly rendered on a computer screen. Okay, let's get meta. Art of Rally: Go I don't want to bog this down with too much research, because I know there's some treatise on the themes of…
